Getting EiA Updates

by Anise on April 28, 2011 at 2:15 am

Hello all my new readers!

Even in Arcadia is a fantasy webcomics of the long and dramatic form. As such, it will be ongoing for a good amount of time and finding convenient ways for you to read along is a big part of what I want to do! The comic updates once a week on Tuesdays, usually at about 12-1 PM PST. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

An Interview with Anise

by Anise on April 4, 2011 at 2:24 pm

Chloe Chan, one of my favourite indie manga artists, interviewed me about Even in Arcadia and some of the themes of the story. There are no spoilers, as far as I think, but it will give you a bit more of an idea of what the comic is about.

The Perpetual Comic Jam, tonight!

by Anise on April 1, 2011 at 9:52 am

It’s pretty exciting, starting tonight at 5:00PM PST on the Cloudscape ustream. If you want to know more about what the perpetual jam is, there’s full details on Cloudscape’s Website.

I’m hosting, good god, for 24 hours straight. While it’s true that I occasionally talked in front of a webcam and post it on YouTube, 24 hours is more than just being entertaining, it’s an endurance test. When I hit about hour 20, great entertainment should ensue.

This is the last push for our fundraiser, which I’m pretty happy about. This fundraiser has been fun and very successful, but it’s taken a lot out of me. This Monday, when it ends, I’m going to feel a bit lost. Well, for all of like 2 days and then I will have to gear up for promoting the new book we will have printed!

Even if you can’t pledge money (or already have), I would be really happy if you checked out the live stream at some point. Come chat a bit, throw your voice into the conversation. We will be discussing comics, entertainment, making comics, publishing, promotions and all manner of great things, plus looking at how the different artists work and their methodologies.

Thanks everyone, see you for the update on Tuesday!

The Regular Schedule

by Anise on March 30, 2011 at 12:36 am

Wow. Just, wow.

Updating everyday for a week straight. It’s was pretty crazy. I go some good traffic and feedback, and I’m pretty happy that I’m now off and running with Even in Arcadia. I hope I haven’t spoiled everyone too much, because EiA won’t update everyday (I know, I know), but once a week. Tuesdays to be exact. If you’re looking for some good ways to keep up to date, might I recommend liking the facebook page, following me on twitter or subscribing on the RSS?

I would also like to quickly announce that we’ve been accepted to open a store on the highly quality and currated Cargoh.com website. We’ve opened our new shiny Epidigm store with Lotus Root Children, of course, because these 3,000 books can’t be my lifesize lego block forever. I will post when we have more good stuff, including a set of sushi inspired postcards, fine art prints and other books. I have been asked by a number of people if EiA will be turned into a print book. As of now, I don’t have plans to do so in the next 6 months or so. I am, however, quite diligent and set up all the files to be easily converted to print. Thus there could be a few print books as soon as I get enough of a demand. Considering it’s full colour, it’s quite an investment.

Lastly, we have about 5 days until the end of the 21 Journeys fundraiser for the Cloudscape Comics Society. Don’t listen to much to the IndieGoGo number, we’re actually much closer to our goal with all the money that has been pledged in person. Nonetheless, if you’re looking to preorder a copy (both Wei and myself have a story in his anthology), I suggest you do so soon. After next Monday we will no longer be taking preorders.

Thanks again to everyone. See you next Tuesday!

Even in Arcadia, the webcomic!

by Anise on March 21, 2011 at 4:01 am

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

I’m really excited, I haven’t done a serious, long form comic on my own in a long time. For the next few years I look forward to bringing you a great tale of magic, political intrigue, adventure and super tense drama. My favourite kind of story ^^.

After the comic’s launch on Tuesday March 22, I will upload a page a day for 7 days. Following which we will get into a regular once weekly update, currently scheduled for Tuesdays. Roughly a month after the launch, there will be a full ebook available of the first chapter at various online stores. The first chapter will be available for free and subsequent chapters for 0.99 each.

Now, not to fret, you can still read the whole comic for free, here on the website. The ebooks, however, will be at least a chapter ahead in terms of story. So if you want to read the comic earlier, you can download it for your computer, kindle, ipad, etc.

I’m a pretty upfront person, so I don’t mind saying this: my goal with this comic is to become a sustainable comic artist, both artistically and financially. I’m dead serious about doing this as my profession and doing it the self published route. Therefore don’t be surprised to see ads on the site and rss, as well as all sorts of goodies and fun stuff for the comic.

While you’re waiting for the new comic, feel free to check out some of my weekly casts on making comics. I love being a comic artist and part of the community, I hope you like my stuff just as much as I like making it.
