EiA pg 33 Delay
by Anise on Sep.19, 2011, under Anise's Blog
I promised to only miss the Tuesday deadline for Even in Arcadia during planned vacations or extenuating circumstances. Well, unfortunately extenuated circumstances have presented themselves.
I have a viral eye infection. It makes it pretty painful to look at anything, particularly a screen, for any length of time. As such, the next page is nowhere near done. I anticipate that my illness won’t last long (the kind doctors have provided me with some medical relief), but it will put a delay on the page. I would like to say I will have it up on Thursday, but it might be as late as Friday or Saturday if my eyes still hurt. Then we can get back to our regular schedule!
Thank you so much for your patience guys! I’m normally a very healthy person, so getting sick is a very trying ordeal… Plus the separation from my sweet sweet drawing addiction.

hahaha, I used to do that when I was a kid. I know for sure I got my infection from my flu, as apparently it’s not uncommon for those to travel to the eyes. But yeah, mine cleared up within 3 days or so, and stopped being painful after about 36 hours. I did have some eyedrops though, not that they were good for disinfecting because there’s not much you can do about viruses. I think they just helped to relieve the pain in my eyes.
I also like to swim, and I know that pink eye is a problem amongst the more aquatically inclined. Luckily I wear goggles and try not to put my eyes in the kiddie pool, which I’m sure is a soup of many microbes slowly dying in the warm bromine.

Ouch. I’ve had infections in my eye before, and it took a lot of effort to steal even a glance at my bright CRT screen. I didn’t take any medicines for it though, and it went away pretty quickly. Just like the internet said it would.
I’m still not sure how my eye got infected. Maybe it happened because I played around by placing the palm of my hand over the eye socket, creating an airtight ‘chamber’ and flexing the palm slightly outwards to suck the eyeball slightly forward. I could see how doing that might cause a little gunk to end up in the wrong place, resulting in a tiny infection next to the iris. I quit doing that, and haven’t had any problems since then. Not that it has to mean anything, but better safe than sorry.
