Sorry guys but I will have to postpone the launching of Days of Leviathan by a week. Just haven’t had the time to get around to it yet. Vanessa is currently making the website and updating the epidigm.net website.

I am going to start school tomorrow and to be honest, I am kind of nervous. Everyone has been telling me how I will pretty much disappear off the face of the earth for two years because animation is just a merciless blackhole. I took a look at my classmate’s websites and they are all pretty good. >< I am intimidated. I am really really hoping that I will still have sooome time for comics. I’m gonna have to be so efficient.

Speaking of trying to be efficient with time, I did a 24 hour comic! For those of you who are not familiar with the concept, 24 hour comic is where you draw a 24 page comic in 24 hours. It’s made for masochistic comic artists. Oh wait, that’s just redundant. For the first 20 hours, I was like this is alright, this is fine, I can do this. But when the 21st hour hit, it was like BAM. WELCOME. TO. DEATH. The 21st and 22nd hours were longer than all the other hours combined. And then the 23rd and 24th hours you pretty much get to live as a zombie so it was all very numb. Anyway, I was able to pencil 24 pages and ink 13 of them. I did two short stories from a comic that I am currently developing (I know I am developing too many comics at once). I will post them once I finish inking them.

By the end of this week, I will have the website for Days of Leviathan! I will be posting the first 8 pages of the comic to start with and update it once a week.  I have the first 25 pages done already and a few friends, Chip, Isabelle and KJ Wilson have previewed it and gave me very useful and encouraging feedback on them.  Chip does the wonderfully executed and paced comic called Broken Things. Isabelle has such a beautiful style and I am really looking forward to her launching her own webcomic. KJ is a writer who started drawing comics not so long ago. He is currently working on a mini comic. I’ve read the roughs and it’s hilarious.

I have also decided to post the ordering info for Lotus Root Children until middle of September because the books are not arriving until the end of September and I don’t want people to wait that long.

On another note, my girlfriend made a really cute recipe comic! I have tried it personally and it’s delicious. Yummm.

The proof for the new print run came in!! I am really happy with the job they’ve done. I was so nervous about getting the proof because if it was bad, I would have had to find a new printer and go through the whole thing again. After receiving the proof, I went through it once again and did another round of editing again. I am so paranoid about this book, that I triple checked my pdf file four times before sending it to the printer. I called my friend like 3 times to confirm that that is indeed how the pdf file should look, haha. Afterall it’s 3000 books! I am now relieved that the book looks ideal.

At the end of the day, I have decided to go with a cream paper for the interior pages of the book because it adds SO much to the atmosphere of the story compared to plain white paper. The cream paper is slightly yellowish/beige and has a bit of texture to it. It’s gonna exceed my grant money so I have to front some money myself but I think it’s worth it.

I am also in the middle of setting up a store with bigcartel.com so I will let you know when you can start ordering books!

The end of LRC and the rise of DOL

Just FIVE pages left and this comic ends! >< But a new webcomic will rise! I will start posting WIP pages of Days of Leviathan on my Livejournal (which can be accessed through the blog button here). A bit of a disclaimer though, Days of Leviathan is an apocalyptic comic, VERY different from Lotus Root Children… but I hope you guys will give it a shot!

When Lotus Root Children ends, I want to send it to some online comic reviewers. Right now I have Webcomic Overlook on my list. Any other suggestions?

Anime Evolution

So, I was at Anime Evolution during the weekend, manning the table for Cloudscape Comics. It was a fun con and there were lots of cool cosplays but most of the artists were selling fan art. Now I am not one that likes to do a lot of fan art but then I thought if I were to do fanart, what should I do?

Currently there are just two things on my list:

1. Janelle Monae – Her personalities, concepts and movements are brilliant!

2. Mad Men – All the characters have such style on that show.

Thanks to everyone who said they would like a book! Wohoo!

I think I am also gonna print some posters of the book cover (I modified it a bit for the new print), not sure yet.

Been working on Days of Leviathan quite a bit recently. Currently I have pages 1 to 14 finished and pages 15 to 26 inked and lettered. My goal is that by the end of Lotus Root Children, I will have a buffer of 40 pages. That will also be when I am starting school. When school starts I am gonna try to complete one page a week. So excited!

I am sending the final, new and improved version of the book to the printers today!! The book will be in colored (Although the colors are very subtle in this comic) and spinebound. The difference between this version and the online version is that I have gone through and cleaned each individual panels of the pencil lines, fixed some terrible proportions I drew a year ago and tightened some of the dialogue. All in all, it’s a more ‘perfected’ version. I haven’t decided on the price yet because I haven’t seen the proof yet but it will be no more than $10 (I take CDN and USD equally).

I am going to set up an online sales system soon (don’t know how to do that, any advice?) but let me know if you are interested in ordering a book! Thanks for the support!
